KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Three people were injured Thursday morning when a van collided with a car in South Knoxville.

The wreck happened at the intersection of Stone Road and Chapman Highway when the van transporting people from the Cerebral Palsy Center was hit by a car.

As the van started to enter the intersection and it was hit by the car, which had failed to stop when the light turned red.

The driver of the car told authorities she failed to see the van and the light change because the morning sun was temporarily in her eyes.

The driver of the car and two passengers in the van were taken to a local hospital. Their injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
