KNOXVILLE (WATE) - An adult and a child were injured Friday morning when they were struck by a car at a bus stop near a Knoxville apartment complex.

The two were hit at Sutters Mill Lane when they and another child darted across the street and into the path of the car.

The driver of the car, Michelle Hollingsworth, 29, told police she could not stop in time to avoid hitting the two. She was not injured.

Maverynn Oliver, 21, who is an aunt of the two children, and 7-year-old Angela Welsin were injured. They were taken to UT Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

An initial report from Knox County 911 dispatchers incorrectly stated two children were hurt.
