ELK VALLEY (WATE) - Crews spent hours Sunday battling a fire that destroyed a home in Campbell County .

The Campbell County Sheriff's Department says the fire broke out around 8:15 p.m. near Meredith Road and Honey Suckle Drive Sunday in Elk Valley.

The residents were not home when the fire started.

Fire officials says the 2,500 square-foot and three-bedroom home is a complete loss. No one was injured.

There were reports that a small plane had flown into the home, but the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed no aircraft crashed in the area.
