UT police citing more students for underage drinking

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The University of Tennessee Police Department has cited more students for underage drinking recently.

Since Aug.1, campus officers have issued 67 citations for underage consumption, which is four times the amount officers issued last year.

Last year, there were only 14 citations for the same crime.

The UTPD said they wanted to work with fraternities on campus to make sure teenagers were not drinking on campus. This effort began before the alcohol enema incident.

Officials said they are continuing their focus on underage consumption to help keep students safe.
