Student cut during robbery attempt near Tennessee School for Deaf


KNOXVILLE (WATE) - An 18-year-old student from the Tennessee School for the Deaf was cut Tuesday when he was assaulted near the campus.

The Knoxville Police Department say the student was approached on Spence Place around 7:30 p.m. by someone wearing a mask as the student was walking to school.

The suspect demanded money. When student refused he was cut on the arm during a struggle.

The 18-year-old ran to campus and told a staff member. A school nurse treated him.

The student was transported to Children's Hospital with minor injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
