Rural/Metro fire station burglarized while firefighters sleep

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Firefighters at a Knox County fire house awoke early Tuesday to discover they had been burglarized.

Firefighter James Allison told Knox County sheriff's investigators he was awakened around 3 a.m. by a noise in the station at 1332 Timbergrove Drive.

At first, he said, he thought the noise was made by another firefighter. Later he discovered his laptop, wallet and other items had been stolen.

After checking outside Allison also discovered his truck had been entered, but was not sure if anything was taken. Allison speculates the burglar took his keys to break into the truck.

Knox County deputies say they are looking for a suspect seen by a witness running from the building. He is described as a white male, about 5'10", who was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.

Deputies say the suspect matches the description of a suspect in another burglary in the area near the fire station.
