KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Comic
book, toy and movie memorabilia enthusiasts will invade the Knoxville Convention Center
this weekend for AdventureCon.
The autograph and collectibles event will have booths for buying and trading, artist displays, model, prop and costume contests and autograph signings with notable science fiction and fantasy celebrities.
Notable
guest panelists include Jon Bernthal of "The Walking Dead" television
series, Ian Whyte of the "Predator" series, Ioan Gruffudd of "Fantastic
Four," Alan Tudyk of "Serenity" and "Firefly" television series, and Kevin McNally
of "Pirates of the Caribbean".
These celebrities will be available at panels throughout the weekend to
answer questions from fans and sign photos and memorabilia.
AdventureCon will take place at the Knoxville Convention Center from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and from 10
a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
AdventureCon
attendees will have the chance to compete in events throughout the conference.
On Saturday, they will hold a science fiction model and prop contest. Participants
can submit entries in three categories: Sci-Fi mechanical (robots and vehicles),
Sci-Fi organic (monsters and creatures) or Sci-Fi prop replica.
Also on Saturday, organizers will host a costume competition for attendees who wear a costume from their favorite movie or comic book.
Winners
will be announced and prizes distributed.
General Admission tickets are available online and
for purchase at the door.
A one-day pass for Saturday is $14 and a full weekend
pass is $20.
This year's conference is the 10-year anniversary of AdventureCon.
