KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Tennessee Sen. Bob Corker questioned some of the statements made by Vice President Joe Biden in Thursday night's debate.

Biden specifically mentioned requests for extra security at the U.S. Consulate in Libya before a deadly attack.

"We weren't told they wanted more security there. We did not know they wanted more security there," Biden said during the debate.

Sen. Corker said those comments directly conflict with a diplomatic security officer's testimony to Congress this week.

It also doesn't match what Sen. Corker found during a trip he made this week to Libya.

"I sat down this week in Tripoli with the folks who not only provide the intelligence, but also folks involved in the rescue operation that took place, and I was just surprised that he continues to discuss things that are just not in reality with what happened on the ground," said Corker.

"I know for a fact that within 24 hours Washington was aware that this was a terrorist act and a very sophisticated terrorist act and I don't understand what the future is for them to continue acting as if they did not know," he continued.

Corker admitted that the situation was a difficult one and that additional security might not have prevented the deadly attack.
