CLINTON (WATE) - The Anderson County Sheriff's Office has released the identity of the deputy involved in a deadly shooting Saturday.

According to the sheriff's office, Deputy Steven Williams was involved in a shooting following a traffic stop on Pine Ridge Road in the Marlow community.

Williams attempted to pull over Randall Kyle Wilcox, 30, but Wilcox fled on foot, according to TBI officials.

The sheriff's office said Williams gave chase and a short distance later was confronted by Wilcox, where a struggle ensued.

Wilcox allegedly tried to take Williams' weapon. He was then shot and killed.

Williams was taken to Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge where he was treated and released for his injuries.

Officials said Williams has been a reserve deputy with the Anderson County Sheriff's Department since July 2008 and a senior patrol officer since June 2012.

Williams has received his initial critical incident stress debriefing after the shooting and will undergo more debriefings before he returns to his duties.

Officials have not released the initial report of the incident.
