KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A man was shot in the back by one of three men he said tried to rob him late Thursday in a North Knoxville neighborhood.

Knoxville police say the victim was shot shortly after 11:39 p.m. in the vicinity of Radford Place and Henegar Street. He was found in the 300 block of Springdale Avenue when officers and emergency responders arrived.

The victim was taken to UT Medical Center. His condition and identity have not been reported.

Police say they are looking for three men who were driving in a late 1990s white Honda Accord with a spoiler on the trunk.

The shooter is described as a black male who was wearing a blue jogging suit, white bandana, and dark blue ball cap with a white rim during the robbery attempt.
