KNOXVILLE (WATE) - UT fans are gearing up for the big game against Alabama, and even though many say UT has no chance against Alabama, some feel that might not be the case.
Tailgating has already begun on top of the Knoxville Civic Coliseum parking garage.
John and Liz Mahoney have been coming here for the past 35 years. They both say something needs to happen to get people excited about Vol football again.
"We need a win to pick people up," said John Mahoney. "That's the name of the game. We've improved every game this season even though the record doesn't show it."
"I feel like we are kind of disheartened," said Liz Mahoney. "I don't think we are depressed. I think we just need a good win to get behind the team again."
Does UT really have a chance against Alabama?
"They may score a few points on us, but we are going to score one more than them," said UT fan Dan Henley. "We are going to win."
"I think we will cover the spread and hopefully we can stop them," said John Mahoney.
"I really feel the Vols are going to pull it out," said Liz Mahoney.
Even though some people say UT's leadership needs to change these fans say they still have faith in Derek Dooley.
"I'm all behind Dooley, and the boys are trying as hard as they can," said Henley. "There's just a few bad links."
"It's not Coach Dooley's fault," said Liz Mahoney. "It's the nature of the ball game. I think he'll do great. I think he needs to keep doing what he's doing."
Kick off for Saturday's game is at 7 p.m.
