Tenn. Supreme Court suspends Anderson Co. lawyer

BRENTWOOD (WATE) - The Tennessee Supreme Court suspended Samuel Franklin Lain on Oct. 17 from the practice of law for one year, retroactive to Aug. 22, 2011.

Until certain conditions have been met, Lain will remain on suspension for an indefinite amount of time.

Lain appeared in court in an impaired condition and did not competently represent his clients.

He did not have the necessary papers for a client he represented in a divorce and allowed his client to prepare answers to interrogatories which were prejudicial to the client.

Also, Lain wrote unprofessional objections on the discovery of responses to the opposing party.

He also appeared before court while he was already on suspension.
