KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The 8th Annual Parent Conference was held Tuesday at the Knoxville Convention Center.
"The theme today is parents, our true super heroes, and so you'll see some folks dressed up in super hero costumes, really recognizing that the role of parents in supporting education is critically important," said Knox County Schools Superintendent Dr. Jim McIntyre.
Hundreds of parents gathered at the event sponsored by Knox County Schools, Knox County Council PTA and Project GRAD Knoxville to learn and share resources for helping their kids succeed in school.
The event included workshops ranging from how to handle bullying, to managing homework and to understanding new common core academic standards.
"We're not going to be successful in providing a great education to our kids and making sure they're prepared for their future without having the support of our parents and our community," said McIntyre.
