(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Thousands of baby bassinets are being recalled because of a suffocation hazard.
The bottom locking mechanism can fail to lock properly if a spring is not installed. That allows the bassinet to tip to one side and cause infants to roll to the side of the bassinet, which could cause suffocation.
The bassinets were sold at Target, Toys R Us and Sears stores nationwide. They were available from December 2007 through January 2011 for about $150.
The maker, Dorel, is providing free repair kits. Call 1-877-416-0165 or go to the Consumer Product Safety Commission website to get the kit.
