MORRISTOWN (WATE) - A man serving time in the Hamblen County Jail on a variety of theft-related crimes walked away from the jail Wednesday afternoon. He was caught a few hours later.
Kenneth Lee Hubbard, 31, was being held on charges of theft under $500, fraudulent use of a credit card, aggravated burglary, and theft over $1,000.
Hamblen County authorities say he walked out of the jail undetected around 1:20 p.m. He was caught about three hours later.
Deputies think Hubbard exited a back door at the same time a trustee had left. Chief Deputy Wayne Mize says surveillance camera video is being checked to see exactly how he got away.
Deputies say Hubbard was not considered a danger to the public while he was on the loose.
He is now expected to face a new charge for the escape.
