KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Two separate outages caused traffic headaches for commuters in West Knoxville Thursday morning.

The Lenoir City Utilities Board (LCUB) said two events led to the outages.

Officials said a switching point on overhead wires near Dutchtown Road at Cogdill Road failed, tripping a substation at Canton Hollow Road at Kingston Pike.

As of 10:30 a.m., officials had the outage contained to areas of north of Kingston Pike along the Interstate 40 and Parkside Drive as well as parts of Lovell Road.

At one point about 3,500 customers were without power and traffic lights across West Knoxville went dark, causing traffic issues for motorists.

LCUB told 6 News that power was restored to all customers just before 11:00 a.m.
