KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Police arrested three people Thursday after finding a marijuana growing operation in a North Knoxville apartment.

The officers were at Fairview Apartments just before 4:00 p.m. responding to an unrelated call, when the resident of a nearby apartment came by to ask about the police activity.

At that time, officers said they smelled a strong odor coming from the resident's apartment.

A second person left the apartment and officials said the smell became stronger.

A third was found in the apartment and also detained.

Officials then secured a search warrant for the apartment. Once inside, they found a three-stage marijuana growing operation in an upstairs bedroom.

Among the items recovered from the apartment were 58 marijuana plants in various stages of growth and harvest, almost half a pound of harvested marijuana, halogen plant lights, a grow station, window screens that were used to dry out harvested marijuana, and pipes and smoking paraphernalia.

Police also found multiple jars with mushrooms in varying stages of growth.

Nathaniel Wade, 26, Drew Moore, 26, and Elora Dami, 22, were all arrested and charged with violating a drug-free school zone and possession of drug paraphernalia.
