KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Wireless speeds for AT&T customers in Knoxville got a little faster Wednesday.

The wireless carrier and city leaders cut the ribbon on its long-anticipated 4G LTE network.

The network is expected to provide speeds up to ten times faster than 3G.

Customers will now be able to stream, download, upload and play games faster than ever before.

It will also open the door for AT&T to offer new devices to local customers.

"If you're watching videos or sending large files, it really allows you to do business, if you're a business person, faster and get data quicker for what you need to make decisions on. So it really speeds things up," said AT&T Regional Director Alan Hill.

The 4G service is now available in all of Knox County and parts of Anderson, Blount, Loudon, Roane and Sevier Counties.

Verizon already provides the 4G LTE service and U.S. Cellular announced Wednesday it will be bringing the service to Knoxville on Nov. 5.
