KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Knoxville police say confidential informants led officers to two of the suspects wanted in a deadly armed robbery.

Parvez Ahmed, 48, was shot and killed Saturday night at Discount Tobacco on Magnolia Avenue.

Police say three suspects walked into the store and demanded money.

"It all happened within 13 seconds," described Kazi Abdul-Hamid. Hamid was the clerk first approached with a gun. He's also Ahmed's father-in-law.

Hamid says he was behind the cash register. Ahmed was stocking the cooler with his back to the men.

Officers believe the men came in to rob the shop and got frustrated because of a language barrier.

As a result they say one of the suspects fired a shot at Hamid behind the register, which missed him. But they shot Ahmed by the coolers. He later died.

"He was a good man," Hamid said, about his late son-in-law.

Investigators say tips from the public led them to a house on Bethel Avenue where they arrested 19-year-old Meleek Morrison.

They arrested Jaevaughn Hayes, 21, at Green Hills Apartments.

Both are facing felony murder and attempted aggravated robbery charges.

The search continues for the third suspect.

"We hope he will also be arrested and then we'll be happy," Hamid said.
