MARYVILLE (WATE) - A Maryville man was killed early this morning after being crushed by his own truck during a crash.

Officials with the Blount County Sheriff's Department say 23-year-old Dustin Tyler Owens died when he lost control of his truck and was thrown from the vehicle.

Owens was driving his 2000 Ford F-150 west on Middlesettlements Road just before 2 a.m. Sunday morning. He lost control of the vehicle in a curve and ramped a driveway before striking a tree.

He was ejected, and the truck landed on top of him.

Owens was not wearing a safety restraint.

Blount County Sheriff's Office Traffic Safety Unit is investigating.
