HENDERSONVILLE (AP) - A judge in Hendersonville has ruled that the statement made to police by a woman accused of killing her newborn twins is admissible at her trial next year.
WTVF-TV reports a Sumner County judge heard several hours of testimony as attorneys for Lindsey Lowe argued Monday that she wasn't properly advised of her rights before talking to police. But the state argued that detectives did everything by the book.
Defense lawyers' requests to have psychologists testify as to Lowe's mental state when she gave the statement were denied.
Lowe is scheduled to be tried March 11 on first-degree murder charges. She has pleaded not guilty.
She told police she hid her pregnancy from everyone and killed the children by smothering them after giving birth at home in September 2011.
