Escaped Knox County inmate back behind bars

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - An inmate who escaped custody in Knox County is now back behind bars.

Inmate James Eric Anderson, 23, walked off from work detail on Monday.

Anderson left the Boys and Girls Club on Carrick Street where he was assigned around 8:15 a.m. on Monday morning.

Sheriff's deputies tracked him to the Red Roof Inn on Papermill Road around 4:30 p.m.

He was taken back into custody without incident by KCSO officers.

Anderson was in initially in custody on a domestic assault violation of probation.

He is now charged with escape from a penal institution with a bond of $8,000.

He's being held at the Knox County Sheriff's Office Detention Facility.
