KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Four people were taken to UT Medical Center Wednesday morning with injuries from a head-on wreck in West Knox County.

The wreck happened at about 6:20 a.m. on Westland Drive near Gallaher View Road.

Knox County deputies say Robert Michael Townsend, 19, of Knoxville was driving a Chevrolet pickup truck when he went off the side of the road. He over-corrected as he tried to get back on the road and struck a pickup truck headed in the opposite direction, driven by Michael John Hoffman, 38, of Millington.

Townsend, Hoffman, and two passengers in Hoffman's truck were taken to the hospital. Their conditions have not been reported.

Officers say alcohol and speeding were not factors in the wreck.
