KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A convicted sex offender was arrested Tuesday on charges that he altered the birth certificate of a minor.
Don Allen Coleman, 36, was taken into custody without incident being indicted by the Grand Jury for multiple counts of violation of the sex
offender registry, perjury, and tampering or fabricating evidence for altering
the birth
certificate of a minor.
In the indictment, Coleman is accused of changing the
birth certificate of a child to reflect himself as the biological father so that
he could live with the child.
Coleman was arrested at his home on Bays
Mountain Road in South Knox County just after 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Coleman was listed on the sex offenders registry because of a conviction for aggravated sexual
battery of a minor in 2005.
He is currently being held at the Knox County
Detention Facility on an $80,000 bond.
