ATLANTA (WATE) - Former Lady Vols star Chamique Holdsclaw has turned herself into police and is facing assault charges.

Police responded to an alleged dispute that involved Holdsclaw and her former girlfriend, Jennifer Lacy.

Lacy told police that Holdsclaw confronted her outside a church, saying she needed to get something out of her car. According to the report, Lacy refused and left the area.

Lacy says she drove to a friend's house. Holdsclaw allegedly followed her and bashed her driver's side and rear passenger car window with a bat. Holdsclaw then produced a handgun and fired at the other door, according to a police report, and left the scene.

Authorities say Holdsclaw surrendered to police around 6 p.m. Thursday.

She is facing several charges including aggravated assault, criminal damage to property and reckless conduct.

Holdsclaw played 12 seasons in the WNBA and four years at Tennessee, winning three national titles in the mid-1990s.
