KCSO search for suspect in attempted child abduction


KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The Knox County Sheriff's Office needs help identifying a suspect who is involved in an attempted child abduction that occurred on Thursday afternoon.

According to officials, around 12:30 p.m. a man tried to abduct a 2-year-old girl from Sterchi Hills Park in North Knox County.

A woman with her two children was followed by the man, and he kept trying to talk to the 2-year-old and even gestured for her to get into his car.

The mother got to her child before she reached the suspect, who then ran toward Sterchi Hills subdivision.

The suspect is described as a white male, between 45 and 55-years-old, with brown eyes, gray, partially balding hair and a scraggly beard.

He is about 6', 200 pounds with a medium build and pockmark scars. The suspect was wearing a blue sweat suit with yellow-striped tennis shoes.
