KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A West Knoxville home received extensive damage in a fire Friday afternoon.
The home is located on Piney Grove Church Road, off of Middlebrook Pike in West Knoxville.
No one was home at the time of the fire, but a mailman working in the area spotted the flames and called 911 around 1:40 p.m.
When firefighters arrived they found the front, exterior portion of the home engulfed in flames and spreading toward the interior of the structure.
After determining that no one was inside, they began working to extinguish the fire.
It was contained to the outside of the structure and a front living room area.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No one was injured.
