KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The road to the state championship is long and hard-- and that's not just a worn out saying for some local high school football teams this year.
It's the real deal.
Five Knoxville area teams will pack their bags and play road games in the state semi-finals on Friday night.
Another team, Webb, will travel across the state to play for a state title a week later.
In Class 6A, defending state champ and unbeaten Maryville will travel to unbeaten Murfreesboro-Siegel after defeating Dobyns-Bennett 41-20 in their quarterfinal matchup Friday night.
In Class 5A, Powell beat Tennessee High 31-10 and will travel to Columbia for a state semifinal matchup.
In Class 4A, Fulton went on the road for their quarterfinal game and beat Livingston Academy 35-14. The Falcons will travel to Giles County.
In Class 3A, defending state champion CAK will travel to Elizabethton. The Warriors survived a tense 38-36 win over Alcoa on Friday night.
In Class 2A, Grace Christian Academy finished an emotional season with a 35-13 loss to Boyd-Buchanan.
In 1A, Coalfield advanced to the semifinals with a 34-31 win at Greenback. The Yellow Jackets will play at Gordonsville.
In Division II, defending state champion Webb defeated DCA 44-0 on Friday night. The Spartans will play for a state title at ECS on Nov. 29.
