Wildfire burns 100 acres amid dry winter weather

KNOXVILLE (WATE) Firefighters have now contained a wildfire that's consumed 75 to 100 acres of steep terrain in east Knox county.

It began around 1:30 Thursday afternoon, on a ridge line near Millertown Pike.

Firefighters will be working throughout Thursday night taking care of hot spots. While the fire burned, a large amount of smoke could be easily seen.

No homes were damaged and no injuries were reported.

Crews believe the cause was likely due to someone burning leaves and garbage.
