ASHLAND CITY (AP) - Authorities in Ashland City say 65 dogs are recovering after being rescued from an alleged dog fighting and breeding operation.
WZTV reports that fire crews responded on Thanksgiving night to a report of a brush fire, but they found something completely different when they arrived - a multitude of American Pit Bulls and beagles all needing medical attention.
Firefighters called animal control officials to help gather the dogs and take them to emergency shelters. Animal control officers say the found a treadmill, fighting pen and a spring pole near the dogs, leading them to believe the place was being used for fighting and breeding dogs.
No one has been charged, though the investigation continues.
