KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Firefighters are working to determine what caused a house fire in north Knoxville Sunday night.

The fire broke out around 6:50 p.m. at a home in the 2700 block of Cecil Avenue.

When firefighters arrived they saw flames shooting from the front living room window.

They initially had reports that two people may be trapped inside, but after a search of the area nobody was found to be home. The family's dog was inside the home and died in the fire.

The home's owners were away at church at the time the fire broke out.

Most of the damage was contained to the front portion of the house.

Fire investigators are working on determining the cause.
