Past Powerball winner hopes to win again with the $550 million jackpot

JELLICO (WATE) – People lined up across East Tennessee for the chance to win a record-breaking Powerball jackpot of $550 million.

Even people who have already one a previous Powerball prize.

Two years ago Suzette Davenport won big off her lucky numbers.

"It was a blessing, it was a blessing," Davenport said.

She remembers the morning her husband told her they won four of the five numbers plus the Powerball.

"I was in the kitchen doing breakfast and he started saying we won, uh oh, we won another number, another number, I was thinking ok, and my heart starting doing [flips], I went in shock," she said.

Although faded, she still has her winning $10,000 ticket, and she still plays the same numbers every week.

"Faithful, twice a week, same numbers."

Last time around she was only one number off from winning the $47 million jackpot but says the $10,000 was a pretty good consolation prize.

"We paid off debts and went on vacation. We did some things we wanted to do and it made life more comfortable," Davenport said.

She remembers calling into work the day she won.

"I called into work that day and still couldn't talk and it was a good feeling calling in to work today because I have to go collect my lottery winnings," laughing as she recalled the memory.

Davenport still works for the state tourism board but says if she wins again, she says she's out of here.

"Hopefully I'll catch the first flight out of Jellico and go to Nashville."

But even if her numbers don't match the winning $550 million drawing, she'll continue playing ever week hoping that luck will strike the Davenport family once again.
