KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A Knoxville man was shot Wednesday night after two men tried to break into his home.
Knoxville police say the shooting happened just before 9 p.m. at a home on Beaumont Avenue near Western Avenue.
The man told police a woman knocked on his door and asked to use the phone. When he gave her the phone two men rushed the door.
The resident saw the men come at him and slammed the door. That's when one of the men opened fire.
A bullet went through the door, striking the resident.
The resident was taken to UT Medical Center for treatment and is expected to be okay.
