NEWPORT (WATE) - A Parrotsville man died Wednesday morning when the SUV he was driving ran off a bridge and crashed into a creek.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol says Stevie Darrell Gilland, 53, was driving a Toyota 4Runner around 8:30 a.m. east on Clear Creek Road near Newport when the vehicle struck the left side of a bridge over the creek.
The SUV flipped over the guard rail and landed on its roof in the creek.
An investigation into the cause of the wreck is continuing.
