J.C. Penney drops gifts on Market Square

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Gifts literally fell from the sky Friday in downtown Knoxville's Market Square.

It was part of the jcp Holiday Charitable Giving Tour sponsored by J.C. Penney.

A small blimp flew over the square, dropping parachutes carrying gifts to residents around town between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The store also handed out thousands of buttons, redeemable for gifts at no cost.

Knoxville is the fourth stop on the retail store's 12-day tour throughout the U.S., carrying out special acts of generosity in a new city each day.
