PIGEON FORGE (WATE) – There's more drama at a local hotel that was named "America's Dirtiest Hotel" in 2011. After bad publicity of receiving that distinction from TripAdvisor.com, Grand Resort Hotel in Pigeon Forge was closed. The hotel was taken over by a bank two weeks ago.

Now several staff members say they were handed paychecks for $0. Some workers are owed more than just a week of pay.

The workers say they were also evicted from the rooms they rented at the hotel for their round-the-clock jobs.

When asked where she was going to spend the night after her eviction, Heather Haggerty answered, "Probably the car."

"I'm going to be on foot or on the street somewhere," said Timothy Tolbert, another former worker left without his pay or a place to stay.

Tolbert and Haggerty were among the workers who told 6 News the hotel had unsanitary work conditions, but they never complained about anything until they were denied their pay.

"We've lived in very unhealthy conditions with mold growing in the rooms and mold growing in our food," described Tolbert.

"I was in the ER a lot for upper respiratory problems, bronchitis, sinusitis," explained Haggerty.

Guests also complained of mold when the hotel was cited by TripAdvisor.com.

Staffers say they were given the runaround when they sought answers.

Attempts to reach former owner Ken Seaton for comment were unsuccessful.

Tolbert, Haggerty and others say they moved from out-of-state to work at the hotel. They are now left to start over with no jobs, no pay, and no roof over their heads.

They are hoping a lawyer who hears about their predicament will be willing to take on their case and help them out.
