FARRAGUT (WATE) - A Knox County teacher received an unexpected surprise Tuesday morning.

The Milken Family Foundation gave Farragut Intermediate School teacher Bobi King an unrestricted $25,000 Milken Educator Award at a surprise school-wide assembly.

The prestigious award recognizes the educator's work as a model for both the state and the nation.

The award was presented by Milken Family Foundation Senior Vice President Dr. Jane Foley, along with Tennessee Department of Education Commissioner Kevin Huffman, and Knox County Schools Superintendent Dr. Jim McIntyre.

Up to 40 educators will receive awards across the United States this year.
