NEWPORT (WATE) - The Cocke County inmate who escaped from police custody was recaptured by deputies on Monday.

Michael Teal, 25, was a trusty at the Cocke County Jail. He was picking up litter late last month when other inmates when he ran into nearby woods and escaped custody.

With the help of U.S. Marshals, deputies tracked Teal to his girlfriend's home on Monday.

Deputies said Teal was not considered dangerous.
