Anderson County mayor asks fire department to postpone subscription fees

CLINTON (WATE) - The Anderson County mayor is stepping in to stop a local fire department from charging subscription fees.

Mayor Terry Frank says she asked the Andersonville Fire Department to put its new plan on hold.

Last week, the fire department planned on introducing subscription fees ranging from $200-$300 a year.

The fire chief says his department has been battling rising costs and needs more revenue to keep operating.

Mayor Frank says she wants more time for people to learn about the possible options.

A public meeting is scheduled for Monday evening at the Anderson County Courthouse.
