PIGEON FORGE (WATE) - Thousand of Santas will be running down the parkway in Pigeon Forge Sunday and they will be running for a good cause.

The second annual Santa Hustle will start at Wilderness at the Smokies resort in Sevierville on December 9 at 8 a.m.

The race is a holiday-themed half marathon and 5K road run. Participants will be given Santa hats, beards, and custom Santa shirts.

About 1,700 participants ran in the first race and as many as 3,000 runners are expected this year.

Keeping in the holiday theme, Christmas music will be played along the course. Cookies and candy will be available at runners stations along the route.

An after-race party at Wilderness will feature milk and cookies. "Reindeer" (ponies dressed as reindeer) rides will be available for kids.

Runners and spectators are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy, which will be donated to Toys for Tots.

Pre-race packets can be picked up Saturday at Wilderness at the Smokies.

Everyone planning to participate are encouraged to arrive early Sunday morning because roads around the resort will begin to close at 7:30 a.m.
