ALCOA (WATE) - One person was killed and another critically injured in a car accident Thursday afternoon.
Alcoa police said the driver of a 1998 Chevy Cavalier attempted to cross the northbound lanes to pull into the Days Inn parking lot.
During the turn, the driver failed to yield of a 2005 Cadillac Escalade that was traveling north on Alcoa Highway.
The impact of the crashed killed the passenger in the Cavalier instantly. The driver was also critically injured and was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment.
The driver of the Escalade had minor injuries and was taken to Blount Memorial Hospital.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and the airbags
did deploy.
