UT focus on Butch Jones; No decision yet

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – The search for a new football coach at Tennessee is now focused on Butch Jones at the University of Cincinnati.

After reports surfaced on Thursday that Jones was considering an offer from Tennessee, WATE 6 Sports has learned no decision has been made yet.

Jones is reportedly set to meet with Bearcat players at 7:30 a.m., Friday.

Jones has spent the last three seasons with the University of Cincinnati. In 2012, the Bearcats put together a 9-3 season in the Big East Conference, and will play the Duke Blue Devils in the Belk Bowl December 27.

Cincinnati could finish with a second consecutive 10-win season.

In three seasons there, Jones amassed a 23-14 record, and was named the Big East Coach of the Year in 2011.

Before coaching Cincinnati, Jones coached for three seasons at Central Michigan, leading the Chippewas to the GMAC Bowl in 2009 and the Motor City Bowl in 2007 and 2008. Central Michigan won the Mid-American Conference Championship in 2007 and 2009.

Jones holds a 50-27 record for his career as a head coach.

The Saugatuck, Mich. native played running back and wide receiver at Ferris State.
