JOHNSON CITY (AP) - Police in Johnson City say a woman left her two young children at home to go help a man steal a Jeep.
The Johnson City Press reported 21-year-old Ashley May was charged with attempted child neglect, auto theft and drug possession after the incident Wednesday.
Police said a man heard his Jeep being started outside his apartment and then saw it being driven away. The man's brother gave chase and followed the vehicle to a Walmart parking lot, where two people jumped out and ran into the store. The brother chased them and tackled 24-year-old Robert Cody Haney. Police charged Haney with auto theft.
May's children are ages 1 and 2 years old.
The jail Internet records showed both suspects remained locked up Friday morning.
