KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Weigel's Family Christmas gave 180 children in the Knoxville area a day of shopping along with a holiday party on Saturday.
The kids were taken to the Kmart on Broadway where they picked out gifts. Afterwards, they went to the Salvation Army for lunch and other festivities.
This is the 15th annual Weigel's Family Christmas, according to Ken McMullen, President of Weigel's. The event started with just eight children in 1998.
"This event helps us realize the true importance of this time of year by creating for these children a day where their dreams can come true," said McMullen.
Weigel's stores have special events throughout the year to raise money for the Family Christmas.
