KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A Farragut High School graduate who was hit and killed by a fire truck in Kentucky is being remembered this week in Knoxville.
The accident happened Monday in Lexington, where the victim, Lauren Woodall Roady, was in town for a running competition. Prior to her death, Roady had been living in Washington, D.C.
The 27-year-old was a 2004 graduate of Farragut High School. The assistant principal there says Roady was one of the most exceptional students to ever come out of the school.
Lauren's family chose not to speak to the media on Tuesday, saying the situation is just too difficult for them.
Lauren's funeral will be held at one o'clock Saturday at Westminster Presbyterian Church on Northshore Drive.
A memorial run for Lauren will also be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Lakeshore Park on South Northshore Drive.
Officials say the Lexington firefighter who was driving the fire truck that hit Roady has been put on paid administrative leave.
The city is still investigating the circumstances of the accident.
