Suspect arrested in attempted burglary of Knoxville liquor store

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Knoxville police just missed catching a man late Tuesday in the act of breaking into a Chapman Highway liquor store. A suspect was arrested a short time later.

Officers arrived just before midnight at the EZ In and Out Liquor Store, 6203 Chapman Highway, minutes after a man ran out of the business.

With information from witnesses, they tracked down a suspect at the Lakeview Motel, 6133 Chapman Highway.

Gregory Comer, 56, was found inside a motel room.

Investigators say evidence from the alleged burglary was found in Comer's room and he was arrested.

Comer is being held in the Knox County Detention Center on burglary and theft charges. Bond is set at $9,000 on the charges.
