MAYNARDVILLE (WATE) - Union County Director of Schools Wayne Goforth says he will move on after his contract ends next summer.
Goforth went back to work with the school system in the fall after being suspended for nearly a year.
That suspension came as the school system faced a budget shortfall.
The following months brought legal battles as Goforth sued and the school board debated about whether to officially fire him.
At a school board meeting last month, one member moved to extend Goforth's contract by one year, but no one seconded the motion.
