KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A man was arrested Monday morning after he was suspected of robbing a Clinton Highway pharmacy.
Knoxville police said at approximately 11:15 a.m., officers responded to a robbery
call at the Walgreens on Clinton Highway at the intersection of Merchants Road.
Witnesses stated that a white male entered the store and walked up to the front
register.
The suspect stated that he had a gun and demanded the money from the
drawer.
After getting the money from the clerk, the suspect fled the store.
Witnesses said they thought they saw the suspect attempt to get into a Gold
Chrysler 300 with Ohio tags. The vehicle exited the parking lot at a high rate
of speed.
The original suspect fled on foot.
Minutes an officer saw a male who appeared to be the original suspect at King Tires near
Clinton Highway and Bradshaw Garden. The suspect was taken into custody without
incident.
The amount of cash that had been stolen from Walgreens matched the
amount of cash found on the suspect. The suspect was then taken in for questioning.
Several
minutes later, an officer was at
the Weigels on Summit Hill Drive when he was flagged down by two people
driving a Gold Chrysler 300 with Ohio tags.
The pair
stated that a white male wearing a yellow jacket attempted to carjack them at
the Walgreens on Clinton Highway.
The two were detained and taken in for questioning. It is unclear
if they were involved in the robbery.
