STRAWBERRY PLAINS (WATE) - Residents of a home near Strawberry Plains made it out safely, but their home was severely damaged late Wednesday by a fire.

Northview Kodak Volunteer Fire Department spokesman Daniel Willis says firefighters found about half the house on Pine View Drive in flames when they arrived just before midnight.

Firefighters from Sevier County and Dandridge were called to assist in putting out the fire. It took them about 90 minutes to get it under control.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Sevier County Sheriff's Office investigators.

The Red Cross was called to assist the family find a place to stay.
