Principal selected for new Southwest Elementary School in Knox County

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Knox County Schools has appointed a principal to the new Southwest Elementary School in South Knox County.

Susan Davis will be the school's principal as it prepares to open.

Superintendent Dr. Jim McIntyre said, "Over the coming months, Ms. Davis will play a key role working with the contractor to complete the finishes and furnishing of the school as well as hiring staff and working with the parents and student body to establish the community of the school."

Davis joined the Knox County Schools in 1992 as a teacher at Whittle Springs Middle School. She also served as a school counselor at Whittle Springs.

In 2001 she was appointed an assistant principal at Cedar Bluff Middle School where she served until being appointed Principal at Cedar Bluff Intermediate School in 2004.

She was appointed Principal at Cedar Bluff Elementary School in 2008 when Cedar Bluff Primary and Intermediate Schools were consolidated to form the new Cedar Bluff Elementary School.

Davis holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Ecology from the University of Tennessee and a Master of Arts in Education from Carson-Newman College.
